The Kazakh authorities do not intend to revise trade relations with Russia within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) in connection with the imposed anti-Russian sanctions, Alibek Kuantyrov, Kazakhstan's Minister of National Economy, told a briefing on Thursday.
"In general, the revision of relations with the Russian Federation is not expected, because it is one of our main trade partners. In general, in terms of imports [to Kazakhstan], Russia is in first place. Given that we have the longest land border in the world between the two countries, respectively, this is a unique case - our geographical and historical interaction - there is no getting away from it. Accordingly, we will trade wherever possible," Kuantyrov said when asked about the possible revision of trade relations with Russia within the EEU in the light of the anti-Russian sanctions.
He explained that trade with Russia will continue with products that are not affected by the sanctions. "We will trade all the goods that are allowed to be traded. Business will see better what to bring, what is more profitable to trade, what is in demand both in the Russian market and the market of Kazakhstan, " said the minister.
According to him, the republic's government is now taking a number of anti-crisis measures, which are financed by additional revenues to the National Fund.
