The authorities of Kazakhstan are planning to launch a network of border trade and economic centers with Russia, China and Central Asian countries. This was announced on Wednesday by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during his speech at the republican public headquarters to support his candidacy at the upcoming November 20 extraordinary elections of the head of state.

"We will launch a network of border trade and economic centers with Russia, China, and Central Asian countries. We will repair 11 thousand kilometers of railroads. We will launch the Dostyk-Moyynty, Darbaza-Maktaaral rail lines, a bypass line around Almaty, and the Bakhty railway crossing with China. We will continue to create an energy system which will meet the needs of people and the demands of industry. At the same time, we will ensure diversification of hydrocarbon production and supplying our regions with gas," he said, presenting his election platform.

According to him, Kazakhstan plans to make the Trans-Caspian international transport route the main link that will contribute to a fuller realization of the transit and export opportunities of the republic. "We will strengthen the seaports and the fleet, and create a container hub on the Caspian Sea," the head of state explained.

Tokayev also noted that alternative energy will dynamically develop. The volume of renewable energy production will increase 1.5 times. "Our plans include modernization and construction of 3.7 GW of power generating capacities and combined heat and power plants. We will complete the construction of power transmission lines that will loop the country's energy system. The domestic market will be saturated with the main types of oil products by increasing refining volumes to 21 million tons per year. As oil production grows, we will diversify the corridors for hydrocarbon exports," said the president.

In addition, new gas processing plants are planned to be put into operation, the production of marketable gas will increase to 30 billion cubic meters. "The country will have a 60% level of gas infrastructure development," Tokayev stressed.
