The International Economic Forum "Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum" serves as a catalyst for attracting new investments, developing Islamic banking, and increasing tourism from Muslim countries, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin stated following a meeting of the forum's organizing committee.

"We have begun preparations early for next May's forum in Kazan because annual work plans, budgets and international activity schedules are now being finalized," Khusnullin told journalists. "A major focus is increasing investments, developing Islamic banking and attracting tourists from Islamic countries. Each of these areas requires specialized work."

The deputy prime minister emphasized that the forum also helps expand exports to Islamic countries and establishes new payment settlement systems. "This directly contributes to achieving our national goals," he added.

Noting the forum's growing prominence, Khusnullin confirmed plans to host a meeting of culture ministers from Islamic countries during the event. "Our task is to raise the forum to an even higher level. We have prepared more thoroughly for an expanded exhibition with increased participation."

Earlier during the committee meeting, Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan  Rustam Minnikhanov proposed holding the next KazanForum on May 14-15, 2026, a suggestion supported by Russian Presidential Advisor and Forum Organizing Committee Secretary Anton Kobyakov.

The 16th KazanForum took place in Kazan from May 13-18, 2025, under the theme "Digitalization: New Reality and  Opportunities for Expanding Cooperation."
