Kyrgyzstan reports 36.8% increase in trade with Russia in 2022

This year, the volume of export-import transactions between Kyrgyzstan and Russia has increased by 36.8 percent. Speaker of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan Nurlanbek Shakiyev said this on Tuesday in Bishkek at a meeting with Russian Ambassador to the republic Nikolay Udovichenko.


"In the first nine months of this year, the volume of trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Russia reached $2.23 billion, an increase of 36.8% compared to the same period last year. This, of course, is not the limit. We strive to further strengthen economic ties with Russia as our main trade partner," Shakiyev was quoted as saying by his press service.


According to the chairman of the parliament, Kyrgyzstan is interested in the comprehensive development of the strategic partnership established with Russia. "Our interstate relations are distinguished by the fact that they are based on mutual trust and historical ties. We need to continue to enhance cooperation in all directions and actively develop partnerships within international organizations such as the EEU, the SCO and the CIS," he said.


In turn, the Russian ambassador assured that the parties pay special attention to cooperation "in the spheres of economy, medicine, culture, as well as in security and combating emergencies".


"In addition, he said that major projects in the field of education are being developed in Kyrgyzstan, the construction of schools is planned. The ambassador also outlined good results in tourism this year, adding that a large number of direct flights had a positive impact on this," the press service stressed.
