Further development of the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) will create logistical connections not only for Eurasia but also for East Africa, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated in his address to the organizers and participants of the 3rd Astrakhan International Forum “North-South Transport Corridor: New Horizons.”
“Russia, as the largest Eurasian power, makes a substantial contribution to maintaining peace and stability on our shared continent, home to several distinct civilizations. This goal is also central to Russian President Vladimir Putin's initiative to form a Greater Eurasian Partnership,” the minister noted. “It envisions establishing broad cooperation among states and multilateral organizations across Eurasia. In this context, our absolute priority is further unlocking the potential of the North-South Transport Corridor. The objective is to connect Northern Eurasia, the Caspian region, Central Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and East Africa by optimizing freight routes through major logistics hubs along the Persian Gulf and Indian Ocean coastlines.”
The head of Russian diplomacy expressed confidence that the forum would help strengthen broad international cooperation aimed at developing this project into a key Eurasian transport artery.
