More than 20 agreements signed at KazanSummit

More than 20 agreements were signed at the International Economic Summit "Russia - Islamic World: KazanSummit 2021".


Thus, on the sidelines of the summit, the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan and JSC Rusatom Healthcare signed an agreement on creating a multifunctional irradiation center for the radiation treatment of medical items. "The amount of investments is 300 million rubles. Multipurpose irradiation centers are our target. Everything here [in Kazan] is very logical, a huge production park, which should contribute to the development of industrial production of items," Natalia Komarova, Director of JSC Rusatom Healthcare, who was signing the agreement on the construction of the medical items sterilization center, told TASS.


The memorandum on mutual cooperation between the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency (TIDA) and Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), the Organizing Committee of the World Halal Summit and AIM Annual Investment Meeting was signed. Also the agreement on strengthening economic cooperation in the sphere of trade, investment technologies, innovations and franchising was signed by the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Bahrain and Tatarstan, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Ulyanovsk region and the Republic of Kazakhstan.


KazanSummit runs from 28 to 30 July, on the final day of the event participants are offered three excursions to Tatarstan: island-town Sviyazhsk, ancient Bolgar and sightseeing tour of Kazan.


What was discussed at the KazanSummit 2021


More than 90 round tables were held during the summit. Partnership finance, halal industry, youth diplomacy, medicine, sports, creative industries, export development, entrepreneurship and investments were the key topics of the business program.


"The business program of the summit was attended by representatives of 64 countries and 38 regions of Russia", reported the press service of TIDA of Tatarstan.


Among the honorary guests of the summit were Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov, Turkish Trade Minister Mehmet Mush, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Tani Ahmed Al Zayudi, Kyrgyz Investment Minister Shykmamatov Almambet, Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry Samir Abdullah Ahmed Nass.


At one of the round tables, Mehmet Mush suggested KazanSummit to agree on the standardization of halal products. And Tatarstan authorities said they expected to increase the volume of food exports in 2021 by 7%, including by increasing the rate of production of halal products. The first Deputy Chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation Rushan Abbyasov also announced the interest of Arab countries in using Russian vaccines due to their compliance with halal standards.


In addition to halal standards, the summit discussed strengthening ties between Russia and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Speaking at one of the round tables at the summit, Grigory Karasin, the Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, said that the potential for inter-regional cooperation between Russian regions and Islamic countries is great, but has not yet been fully realized. Also during the event it became known that a meeting of the Russian-Syrian intergovernmental commission (IGC) on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation is planned to be held in Syria in August.


At the final plenary session, Minnikhanov said that the total assets of the Islamic economy should increase from $2.9 trillion to $3.7 trillion by 2024. At the same session, the President of Turkey Tayyip Erdogan read the address where he noted the success of Tatarstan in the production of high-quality halal products. Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko also addressed the participants of the summit via videoconference. She declared that Russia brightly demonstrates the huge potential of living together in peace and harmony of the representatives of different religions and cultures and is interested in closer cooperation with the countries of the Islamic world.


Russia Halal Expo'21


During the Summit, the largest in Russia and the only in the Volga Federal District Halal industry exhibition Russia Halal Expo'21 was organized, which allowed producers from Russia, the CIS countries and abroad to present their halal services and products. The first to visit the exhibition were Reshetnikov and Minnikhanov.


This year, more than 100 exhibitors presented their products and services. The categories are very different: food, medicine, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, clothing, jewelry, tourism, IT, finance, etc.


In addition to Russian companies, representatives from Turkey, Indonesia, Bahrain, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan organized exhibitor stands. Russia Halal Expo has also organized masterclasses, in particular on cooking Tatar cuisine and wearing the headscarf.

 

About KazanSummit


The International Economic Summit "Russia - Islamic World: KazanSummit" has been held in Tatarstan for 12 years, only in 2020 it had to be canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. For the first time, the summit was held in 2009, receiving 250 participants, and in 2019 the event was visited by more than 3.5 thousand delegates.


The main goal of the KazanSummit was the establishment of cooperation and maintaining a dialogue between Russia and the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in the economic, political and cultural spheres.


Among the traditional events of the summit were the forum of young entrepreneurs of the OIC countries, Sbertalk, Modest Fashion Show, the forum of young diplomats of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
