In 2023, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) emerged as the primary purchaser of Moscow's non-resource non-energy products among the Persian Gulf countries, according to Deputy Mayor of Moscow Maxim Liksutov.
"The city helps the capital's manufacturers promote their products in foreign markets. Thanks to comprehensive support, Moscow companies in the non-resource non-energy sector were able to almost double their supply volumes to the UAE compared to 2022. These products range from food to 3D printers and medical equipment," stated Liksutov, as quoted by the press service of the Department of Investment and Industrial Policy (DIPP).
Overall, Moscow's exports to the Gulf countries in 2023 increased by 16% compared to 2022. In addition to the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Oman also became significant buyers of Moscow's products.
"More than half of Moscow's non-resource non-energy exports to the region consist of food and beverages from Moscow producers. Confectionery, health food products, pasta, and non-alcoholic beverages are particularly in demand in the UAE market. Industrial sector goods account for about 39% of the capital's total non-resource non-energy exports. The Persian Gulf countries purchase 3D printers and scanners, metalworking equipment, medicines, instrumentation products, and medical equipment from Moscow," explained Vladislav Ovchinsky, Moscow Government Minister and Head of DIPP.
The department emphasized that through the "International Cooperation and Export" national project and with support of the Mosprom Center, Moscow manufacturers have significantly expanded their export flows and found new partners in Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and CIS countries.
