Tehran is aiming for Iran's trade turnover with Russia to reach $40 billion, Oil Minister Javad Owji said at a meeting with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak in the Iranian capital on Wednesday.
"The Iranian government seeks to develop relations with Russia in order to increase trade turnover to $40 billion," he said. The minister added that "a special working group headed by Iran's first vice president [Mohammad Mohber] has been set up for this purpose, which also includes various ministers, and its work is monitored by the country's president [Ebrahim Raisi]."
Novak arrived Wednesday on an official visit to Iran. In addition to Owji, the deputy prime minister is scheduled to meet with Iran's vice president.
