On March 17, Putin to participate via video link in the launch of a gold mine in Kyrgyzstan

On Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin will participate via video link in the launch ceremony of the Talas gold mine at the Dzherui deposit in Kyrgyzstan. Press secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov told journalists about it.


He noted that Putin has a "very important teleconference bridge" scheduled for Wednesday as part of agreements between the leaders of Russia and Kyrgyzstan that were reached during President Sadyr Zhaparov's recent visit to Russia.


"Zhaparov, together with our president, will open the Talas gold mine," the Kremlin spokesman said.


He specified that he was referring to the development of the Dzherui Gold Mine in Kyrgyzstan. "At the moment, this is the largest investment of Russian business in Kyrgyzstan," Peskov noted. - "Putin will be in Moscow, Zhaparov and the head of the Russian Alliance Group will be in Kyrgyzstan, at the site of this field."


The press secretary of the Russian leader added that the representatives of VTB Bank with the support of which the project is realized will also participate in the teleconference bridge from Moscow.


About the project


According to the press-service of the Kremlin, the project realized by the Russian "Alliance Group" with the support of VTB Bank is one of the largest in the history of the Russian-Kyrgyz economic cooperation by the volume of investments. The enterprise has the potential to produce five tons of gold a year.


According to the Kyrgyz side, the capacity of the gold extraction plant in Talas region is 1.3 million tons of ore per year. "All extracted ore will be processed at this factory with subsequent refining on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic," noted the press service of the president of Kyrgyzstan.


They stressed that "the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic will have a preferential right to purchase gold bars". Altyn Alliance, a Russian company, holds a license to develop the Dzherui mine.
