Collective action by Asia-Pacific economies will yield more opportunities than risks, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk stated during the APEC leaders' meeting.
"We believe that if our countries work together, more opportunities than risks will open up for us," Overchuk said. "Russia is contributing to regional dynamics. Our economy is demonstrating resilience in the face of current challenges and continues to develop. We are strengthening our nation's industrial base."
He highlighted Moscow's initiative for a "Greater Eurasian Partnership," which he described as aligning with the APEC vision. The initiative is based on the principles of "integration, enhancing connectivity, harmonizing regulatory systems, removing barriers, and creating better competitive conditions for our manufacturers."
The deputy prime minister emphasized Russia's commitment to improving the business climate across Greater Eurasia. "We view the network of free trade agreements as a tool, and we are implementing this tool together with our partners in the Eurasian Economic Union," he added.
In this context, Overchuk stated that APEC's focus should be on "comprehensive connectivity of institutions, regulations, and human contacts."
"Within this framework, we are upgrading our Far Eastern railway infrastructure and our Pacific ports. We are also enhancing the capabilities for using the Northern Sea Route—the shortest path between this region and Europe," he concluded.
