Pakistan sends delegation to Russia for talks on supply of petroleum products - media

28 November 2022

A delegation from Pakistan led by State Oil Minister Musadik Malik left to Russia on Monday for talks on the subject of procurement of Russian crude oil and petroleum products, Business Recorder reports.

According to the newspaper, representatives of the Islamic republic will discuss the possibility of an agreement with Russia on the supply of crude oil and petroleum products. The purchase of Russian oil at reduced cost by Pakistan has been gaining popularity in recent months amid rising global energy costs, the newspaper notes. Islamabad has repeatedly stated its intention to sign an agreement with Moscow "on favorable terms."

In October 2022, Finance and Revenue Minister of Pakistan Ishaq Dar said that the Islamic Republic is considering the purchase of oil in Russia. It was noted that Pakistan is ready to buy fuel products from Russia at the same price as India.
