Pakistan expresses readiness to discuss with Russia the use of cards from the Mir payment system and the transition to national currencies in mutual settlements, according to Muhammad Khalid Jamali, Pakistan's new ambassador to Russia. This statement was made in his first interview with TASS.

"The transition to national currencies in mutual settlements is a matter under discussion, not only bilaterally but also at the level of multilateral organizations such as the SCO. Pakistan is ready to explore all available options that can expedite settlements and give a boost to our trade. The same applies to Mir cards. We are open to all proposals from our Russian colleagues that are mutually beneficial," he stated when asked about the discussion of using Mir cards and talks on transitioning to mutual settlements in national currencies.

The diplomat emphasized that Pakistan had proposed negotiating a currency exchange agreement with Russia. "I hope that during my stay in Moscow, we will be able to make some progress on this issue," the ambassador concluded.
