Peskov: Turkey Will Continue Buying Advantageous Goods from Russia

26 September

Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov responded to US President Donald Trump’s assertion that Turkey would stop purchasing Russian gas, expressing confidence that Turkey will continue profitable trade with Russia in certain goods.

“The Turkish Stream is operating at full capacity. The Blue Stream is also operating at full capacity,” Peskov stated. “We continue our trade and economic cooperation with the Republic of Turkey. It is a sovereign state that independently decides in which areas to cooperate with us. If certain types of trade and goods are advantageous to the Turkish side, then Turkey will continue to engage in such trade,” the Kremlin representative said.

In January 2025, the Turkish newspaper Hürriyet, citing data from the Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority, reported that Russia remained the main supplier of natural gas, oil, and petroleum products to Turkey in 2024, as it was the year before.
