Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced that Russia's trade turnover with Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries increased by 7% in 2024, reaching $112 billion. The statement was made during his address at a restricted-format meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State.
"Regarding economic interaction, Russia's trade turnover with CIS countries in 2024 alone—[Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart] Tokayev spoke about Kazakhstan, and I can say regarding Russia—so, Russia's trade turnover with CIS countries increased by 7%, to $112 billion," Putin stated.
The Russian president emphasized the critical importance of the consistent improvement in the structure of this trade. "Moreover, the structure is improving due to growth in the segment of high value-added products. I want to highlight this; it is, as they say, an indisputable fact. We are seeing an 'ennoblement' of our trade turnover year after year," the Russian leader underscored.
