Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met in Doha to discuss bilateral cooperation in energy and investment, according to the Qatari ruler’s office.
“The meeting focused on strengthening the partnership between the two friendly nations, particularly in the energy and investment sectors,” the statement said. The leaders also exchanged views on key global and Middle Eastern developments.
Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, was also present at the talks.
During the meeting, Lavrov conveyed greetings from Russian President Vladimir Putin and reiterated Moscow’s invitation for the Emir to visit Russia. Sheikh Tamim confirmed his plans to travel to Russia on April 17.
