The Russian state corporation Rosatom and its partners in Uzbekistan continue to work out a project to build a nuclear power plant in the republic. This was announced on Monday by Vadim Titov, head of the Rosatom International Network Corporation, which represents the interests of the state corporation abroad.
In 2018, Uzbekistan and Russia signed an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the construction of a nuclear power plant in the republic, according to the project, it is planned to build a nuclear power plant of two generation "3+" power units with VVER-1200 reactor units. The plant is expected to be built at a site near Lake Tuskan in the Jizzakh region of the republic.
"Now the details of this project are being discussed, we all understand perfectly well that the construction of a nuclear power plant is a strategic project of bilateral cooperation, which meets the interests of our countries," Titov said in an online session at the Innoprom exhibition, which will be held in the Uzbek capital for the second time in April this year.
The international industrial exhibition "Innoprom. Central Asia" will be held on April 25-27 in the national exhibition center "Uzexpocentre" in Tashkent. It is expected to present novelties of machinery, metallurgy, energy, pharmaceutical and medical industries. Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan will have their national expositions at the exhibition. In addition, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade will present a stand of innovative industrial products.
