Rosselkhoznadzor allows import of tomatoes from one plant in Azerbaijan from December 16

Starting from December 16, Rosselkhoznadzor allows the import of tomatoes from one of the enterprises of Azerbaijan into Russia. It is said in the message of the agency.


"Based on the results of the analysis of the provided information, Rosselkhoznadzor considers it possible, under the guarantees of the Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, to allow the import of tomatoes from the Republic of Azerbaijan into the Russian Federation from the enterprise LLC "Agroterm" located in Khizi district from December 16, 2020," the report says.

 

 

According to Rosselkhoznadzor, the decision was made based on the results of negotiations of the Russian Ministry with the Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan held on December 9, 11, and 14, 2020, during which the Azerbaijani side provided information about the investigation results of cases of detecting objects quarantine for EEU countries in tomatoes of Azerbaijani origin, and sent the results of monitoring activities.


At present, the issue of permission for the import of products to two more greenhouse farms of Azerbaijan is under consideration.  Rosselkhoznadzor adds, "We keep on working with the competent authority of Azerbaijan in this direction".


As previously reported, Rosselkhoznadzor banned the import of tomatoes and apples from Azerbaijan since December 10 due to the detection of quarantine objects for the EEU - South American tomato moth and Oriental moth.
