Russia-Africa Trade Turnover Grew by 10% in 2024, Says Putin

26 February

Trade turnover between Russia and African countries increased by 10% in 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated during a Kremlin meeting with Guinea-Bissau’s President Umaro Sissoco Embaló.

“I would like to note that last year, trade between Russia and the African continent continued to grow, adding 10%,” Putin said.

However, he emphasized that economic relations require further attention from both sides. “I strongly hope that we will be able to agree on ways to accelerate this momentum. There are good foundations and promising opportunities,” he added.

The Russian leader also highlighted growing interest from Russian companies in the African market.

While Russia-Guinea-Bissau trade has shown positive dynamics in recent years, the overall figures remain modest. Nevertheless, the potential for cooperation is significant, particularly in geological exploration, mineral resources, energy, and agriculture.
