Russia Aims to Finalize Trade and Investment Deal with UAE Soon

07 April

Russia is hoping to soon finalize an agreement with the United Arab Emirates on trade in services and investment, according to the Russian Ministry of Economic Development. The announcement followed a meeting between Minister Maksim Reshetnikov and the UAE’s Minister of Foreign Trade, Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, on the sidelines of the AIM Global 2025 investment forum in Abu Dhabi.

“We’re optimistic that, in the near future, we’ll reach mutually acceptable terms with our Emirati colleagues and sign a deal that benefits both sides,” Reshetnikov stated. He added that the agreement would significantly improve access for Russian companies to the UAE’s services market—across more than 100 sectors, including healthcare, education, law, accounting, taxation, and IT.

Reshetnikov noted that the deal would also deepen cooperation in key areas such as finance and logistics, laying a stronger foundation for long-term economic ties.

Beyond boosting trade in services and investment, the agreement is expected to support trade in goods by lowering the cost and improving the accessibility of export-related services.

In parallel, Russia is also working on a free trade agreement for goods between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the UAE. Reshetnikov confirmed that the text of that agreement is currently undergoing domestic approval processes within the EAEU member states.
