Russia and OPEC are united in their commitment to stabilizing the oil market, aiming to create favorable conditions for all stakeholders. This was the key message delivered by OPEC Secretary General Haitham Al-Ghais during the high-level “Russia-OPEC” energy dialogue.
“Our shared goal is to ensure market stability, creating an environment that benefits both energy producers and consumers,” Al-Ghais stated.
He praised the strong relationship between OPEC and Russia, which has grown significantly in recent years. “These ties are built on mutual respect and a shared interest in market stability. As I’ve often said, both in private discussions and public forums, Russia is one of the world’s most significant oil and gas producers,” he noted. Al-Ghais also emphasized Russia’s pivotal role in the OPEC+ Declaration of Cooperation and its contributions to the broader efforts under the Charter of Cooperation. “We are working to expand the Charter to bring more countries on board,” he added.
Al-Ghais highlighted that the energy dialogue between Russia and OPEC addresses both immediate and long-term goals. “The 'Russia-OPEC' energy dialogue, along with the Declaration of Cooperation and the Charter, is focused on maintaining a stable and sustainable energy market for the future,” he explained.
Reflecting on his visit, Al-Ghais commented, “Yes, it’s cold in Moscow, but the warm reception from our Russian colleagues quickly made us feel at home.”
In addition, Ayed Al-Qahtani, OPEC’s Director of Research, shared details of a technical meeting held on November 15 as part of the energy dialogue. He noted that both parties agreed to continue discussions on oil market trends and environmental issues, ensuring ongoing collaboration.
