Russia and Yemen Agree to Hold Joint Trade Commission Meeting

22 October

Russia and Yemen have agreed to convene the first session of their intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation in the near future. The agreement was reached during a working meeting between Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak and Aidarus al-Zubaidi, Vice Chairman of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council and head of the Southern Transitional Council.

Following the meeting, both sides agreed to promptly organize the inaugural session of the Russia-Yemen Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation.

Novak emphasized the historical depth and resilience of bilateral relations, noting that "Russia and Yemen are bound by strong ties of friendship spanning nearly a century. Our partnership has never been interrupted." He recalled the significant socioeconomic and technical assistance provided by the Soviet Union to Yemen and reaffirmed modern Russia's commitment to further strengthening and developing cooperation between the two nations.

"We are ready for constructive dialogue on all current issues," Novak stated.
