Russia and Yemen will hold the inaugural meeting of their intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation this September in Makhachkala, the Russian Energy Ministry announced following a working meeting between Roman Marshavin, Director of the International Cooperation Department, and Ahmed Salem Al-Wahishi, Yemen’s Ambassador to Russia.

“The key topic of the meeting was preparation for the first session of the Russia-Yemen intergovernmental commission, scheduled for September 2025 in Makhachkala,” the ministry said in a statement.

During the talks, the two sides reviewed preparations for the commission meeting, including coordination of documents to be signed during the session, and outlined next steps for advancing bilateral cooperation.
