From January to May this year, Russia became Indonesia’s leading supplier of fertilizers, overtaking last year’s leader, Canada, according to an analysis by RIA Novosti based on Indonesia’s official statistics.
In the first five months of 2025, Russian companies exported $276.8 million worth of fertilizers to Indonesia—an increase of 70% compared to the same period last year. This surge allowed Russia to surpass Canadian suppliers, whose exports rose by only a third to $257.1 million, up from $188.5 million a year earlier.
China ranked third among Indonesia’s fertilizer suppliers, selling $118 million worth—a 6% drop year over year.
Overall, Indonesia imported $984.1 million worth of fertilizers from January through May, a 29% increase from the same period last year.
