Russia Exports Over $2.8 Billion in Food to Africa

08 October

Russia exported nearly 11 million tons of agricultural products to African countries in the first eight months of 2025, with a total value exceeding $2.8 billion, according to a statement from the federal Agroexport center.

The data reveals that while grain remains a staple export, African demand for Russian goods is diversifying. "And, perhaps unexpectedly, wheat is far from the only product the continent is interested in," the center noted in its release.

Among the specific exports highlighted were approximately 500 tons of prepared Russian meat products, valued at over $660,000, shipped to African nations during this period.

The export of dairy whey to Africa saw a dramatic surge, increasing nearly thirteen-fold in volume. From January to August 2025, Russia supplied more than 1,300 tons of whey, worth close to $1 million.

In other notable shipments, Russia exported around 50 tons of frozen crab to Tunisia, valued at nearly $2 million. Meanwhile, deliveries of Russian ice cream to Senegal totaled almost 180 tons, worth approximately $450,000.
