Russia Sets New Monthly Record for Gas Exports to Europe via TurkStream in July 2025

01 August

In July 2025, Russia reached a new milestone in its gas exports to Europe through the TurkStream pipeline, delivering 1.59 billion cubic meters—the highest monthly volume since the pipeline became operational in January 2020. This surge marks a significant growth in Europe-bound Russian gas supplies, according to data compiled by TASS from the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG).

During the first seven months of 2025, the total volume transported to European countries via TurkStream reached 9.91 billion cubic meters, representing a 6.9% increase compared to the same period last year. Notably, July’s export figure jumped 41% compared to June 2025 and surpassed last July’s deliveries by 5%. The previous monthly record of 1.56 billion cubic meters was set in January 2025.

The average daily throughput through TurkStream towards Europe in July stood at 51.4 million cubic meters per day, which is 5% higher than July 2024 and 37% above June 2025.

TurkStream is a major subsea pipeline with an annual capacity of 31.5 billion cubic meters, running under the Black Sea from Russia to Turkey. It supplies natural gas to Turkey as well as countries in Southern and Southeastern Europe. Following the discontinuation of gas transit via Ukraine, TurkStream remains Russia’s sole active pipeline route for delivering gas directly to European markets.

The pipeline begins at the Russkaya compressor station near Anapa on the Russian coast.

Last year, Russia’s gas deliveries to Europe through TurkStream rose 23% to 16.7 billion cubic meters, with Hungary receiving a record volume of 8.6 billion cubic meters via this route. Overall, Russian pipeline gas exports to Europe in 2024 grew by 14%, totaling 32.1 billion cubic meters. At the same time, pipeline supplies to Turkey increased by 2.6%, reaching just over 21 billion cubic meters, transmitted through both TurkStream and the Blue Stream pipeline.
