The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Egypt will continue their meticulous efforts toward reaching a free trade agreement, said Mikael Agasandyan, Director of the First CIS Countries Department at Russia’s Foreign Ministry, in comments to TASS.
“The negotiation process hasn’t been completed yet and requires ongoing detailed expert work,” he stated in response to a related question.
Agasandyan also cautioned against making predictions. “Let’s not try to read tea leaves. We’ll finalize the agreement when both sides reach mutually acceptable solutions on coordinating product lists. When that happens is hard to say,” he added.
Earlier, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk told a Russian-Egyptian business forum that Russia advocates restarting talks on a free trade zone agreement between Egypt and the EAEU.
