30 December 2022

The trade turnover between Russia and Tajikistan in the first 11 months of this year increased by more than a third compared to the same period last year and for the first time in history exceeded $1.5 billion, Russian Trade Representative in the republic Yevgeny Korenkov told TASS in an interview on Friday.

"In the first 11 months of 2022, the Russia-Tajikistan trade turnover grew by almost 35% compared to the same period of 2021 and passed the mark of $1.5 billion," he said. The agency's interlocutor noted that this is a record volume in the entire history of trade and economic relations between the two countries.

The agency interlocutor pointed out that this is a record volume in the entire history of trade and economic relations between the two countries. "I think even skeptics can't have estimates other than extremely positive," he stressed.

According to Korenkov, Russia still holds first place among Tajikistan's trade partners.

The geopolitical and economic challenges of the outgoing year have strengthened business cooperation between Russia and Tajikistan, Korenkov said. "Surprisingly, the geopolitical shifts and financial shocks of 2022 have led to stronger economic cooperation between our countries," he said.

According to the trade mission, cooperation between Moscow and Dushanbe has been actively developing in recent years. In 2021, the bilateral trade turnover grew by 39% compared to the previous year, not only exceeding all pre-demand values, but also reaching a historical maximum.
