29 January

Russian vegetable oil exports to the United Arab Emirates saw massive growth in 2025, with the total value of shipments jumping 3.5 times compared to the previous year. This data was shared by Ilya Ilyushin, head of the "Agroexport" Federal Center, during the Gulfood-2026 International Food Exhibition.

In physical terms, the volume of oil sent to the UAE increased 2.8 times, reaching over 21,500 tons. The total value of these exports exceeded $26.5 million. Ilyushin noted that sunflower oil was the primary driver of this trend, with shipments more than doubling in volume to 13,500 tons, valued at nearly $18 million.

In 2025, Russia began exporting rapeseed oil to the UAE for the first time, delivering over 900 tons worth nearly $1 million. Additionally, Russian soybean oil saw a significant boost; imports to the UAE grew 3.6 times by volume and 4.6 times by value, totaling over 7,000 tons and bringing in almost $8 million.
