Russia's trade turnover with the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) increased by 6.7% in the first half of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, with Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Armenia being the top three partners, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk said during a meeting of the CIS Economic Council.

“Russia's foreign trade turnover with CIS countries increased by 6.7% from January to June 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. Exports grew by 14.8%, while imports rose by 3.7%,” he stated.

Overchuk added that trade with CIS member states accounts for 16% of Russia's overall trade. In the January-June period of 2024, he highlighted that the top three trade partners were Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Armenia.

He emphasized that CIS countries are committed to further integration and cooperation across all sectors, despite the geopolitical situation. “Joint projects are being implemented in the fields of energy, transport, and agriculture. Cultural and humanitarian ties between our countries are also expanding, and the share of transactions in national currencies is steadily growing,” the deputy prime minister concluded.
