Saudi Arabia is actively exploring the use of Russian-made oil and gas extraction equipment, with significant progress being made toward the mutual recognition of industry standards. Anton Alikhanov, Russia’s Minister of Industry and Trade, shared these updates with reporters on February 9, 2026, during the "INNOPROM. Saudi Arabia" international exhibition in Riyadh.
When asked about the level of interest from the Kingdom, Alikhanov was definitive. "Yes, without a doubt," he confirmed, noting that the two nations are currently in negotiations to expand their partnership through the Institute for Initiatives in Oil and Gas Technology (INTI). This collaboration follows a successful model established in the United Arab Emirates, where over 50 INTI-developed standards have already been adopted and approved by local authorities.
"Our primary focus now is to coordinate with Saudi Aramco," the minister continued. "It is essential that this market leader also certifies and adopts the standards developed by INTI. We expect to hold a dedicated 'Technology Day' in the coming months, likely this spring, where we will present our specific solutions directly to our Saudi partners."
