Saudi Arabia plans to expand its railway network to 8,000 kilometers in the coming years, announced Minister of Transport Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser during the Saudi Rail Conference and Exhibition in Riyadh.
“The Kingdom anticipates unprecedented development in its railway network. With the implementation of new projects, the total length will exceed 8,000 kilometers in the near future,” the Saudi Press Agency quoted the minister as saying.
Currently, Saudi Arabia's railway network spans over 5,500 kilometers. According to Al-Jasser, this expansion will position the Kingdom as a hub for regional logistics operations.
