"Sputnik V" vaccine samples arrived in Uzbekistan

The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation informed about the arrival of the first samples of vaccine "Sputnik V" to Uzbekistan to conduct tests for its subsequent industrial production.


"Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov personally delivered to the capital of the republic samples of vaccine from COVID-19 "Sputnik V". The valuable cargo was received by First Deputy Head of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Well-being and Public Health Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan Kholmamat Norboev. The samples were handed over to the Uzbek side for testing necessary for registration and launching industrial production of the vaccine on the territory of Uzbekistan", the message says.


Vaccine "Sputnik V"


On August 11, Russia was the first in the world to register the coronavirus vaccine, which was named "Sputnik V". The drug was developed in Gamaleya Research Center and passed clinical trials in June - July. Post-registration trials of the drug started in Moscow on September 7, and volunteers received the first vaccine on September 9. In total 40 thousand people took part in the program, 10 thousand of whom received a placebo instead of the vaccine.


According to interim results, the efficiency of the Sputnik V vaccine exceeds 95% on the 42nd day after the first dose of the drug, provided the patient receives the second dose.


Requests for over 1.2 billion doses of Sputnik V vaccine have been received from more than 50 countries. The vaccine for delivery to foreign markets will be produced by RDIF international partners in India, Brazil, China, Korea and other countries.
