Tajikistan’s Energy Minister Daler Juma and Russia’s Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev met in Moscow on March 6 to discuss reviewing and auditing their joint energy projects to improve their efficiency. This was reported by Tajikistan’s Ministry of Energy and Water Resources.
“The talks focused on energy cooperation, including the implementation of projects involving renewable energy sources. Both sides highlighted the need to audit existing projects to enhance their effectiveness,” the ministry said in a statement on its Telegram channel.
The two ministers also touched on preparations for the next summit between the presidents of Russia and Tajikistan, though no specific date was mentioned.
Additionally, they agreed to hold a roundtable discussion involving representatives from both countries’ private sectors and relevant government agencies.
Back in January, Juma mentioned at a press conference that Tajikistan and Russia were already discussing potential joint solar energy projects. He also noted that both sides had reached a preliminary agreement on resolving outstanding debts related to electricity deliveries to the Sangtuda-1 hydropower plant, a joint venture. Work is currently underway to amend the relevant intergovernmental agreement to formalize those arrangements.
