The trade turnover of agro-industrial products between Russia and Azerbaijan saw a 10% increase from January to August 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, according to a report from the Russian Ministry of Agriculture.

During a working visit to Azerbaijan, Russian Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut met with Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev to discuss enhancing cooperation between the two nations in the agro-industrial sector. The ministry emphasized that Azerbaijan remains one of Russia's key agricultural partners, with trade in agricultural goods continuing to grow steadily.

Russia’s main exports to Azerbaijan include wheat, sunflower oil, and confectionery products, while Russia primarily imports fruits and vegetables from Azerbaijan. Minister Lut expressed Russia’s interest in expanding exports, stating that Russian enterprises are prepared to increase supplies of wheat, oil and fat products, and sugar. She also highlighted the potential for exporting Russian rice seeds to Azerbaijan.

In addition to trade, both countries continue to cooperate in the field of veterinary security. Russia has provided Azerbaijan with 150,000 doses of foot-and-mouth disease vaccines free of charge this year. Minister Lut confirmed that Russia remains committed to offering assistance in preventing the spread of dangerous animal diseases and expanding exports of veterinary products.
