United Shipbuilding Corporation Launches First HyClever Hydrogen Generator Export in Kazakhstan

09 June

The United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) has commissioned its first exported hydrogen generator — the HyClever system — in Kazakhstan, according to a statement from the company’s press office.

USC engineers successfully completed installation and commissioning of the alkali-free HyClever hydrogen generator at Karaganda State District Power Plant No. 1 (GRES-1). Due to hydrogen’s high thermal conductivity, the gas is commonly used to cool powerful turbine generators at both thermal and nuclear power plants.

The project was carried out under a contract between USC and Karaganda GRES-1, aimed at replacing outdated alkaline electrolysis equipment (type SEU) with the modern HyClever system. USC specialists supervised the integration of the generator into the plant’s infrastructure, conducted comprehensive testing, launched all systems, and provided staff training on the safe operation of the new technology.

The company also noted that USC has signed a contract to deliver two more HyClever units to Belarus.

The HyClever line represents a next-generation hydrogen production technology, using polymer proton-exchange membrane (PEM) electrolysis. Its key advantage lies in the absence of aggressive alkaline solutions, using regular water instead.
