Aurus vehicles assembled in the UAE are being sold not only within the Emirates but also in neighboring Gulf countries, Russia's First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov told reporters.
"We have a joint project that handles assembly, service, and maintenance. It is a small-scale project. Sales are being carried out not only in the Emirates but also in adjacent Gulf states," he said.
Manturov also added that UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan owns his own Aurus. "There is a large presidential garage there, from which vehicles are allocated for delegations and used directly in the presidential motorcades of the UAE leadership," he specified.
In November 2023, Manturov reported the start of Aurus vehicle assembly at a production site in Dubai. The first model was the Aurus Senat sedan, with plans to launch production of the Komendant SUV in the future, he said.
Aurus is a line of executive-class vehicles created since 2013 at the request of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade. The project involves developing a range of vehicles both to replace the fleet of official cars for government employees and for commercial sales. Since May 2021, the vehicles have been mass-produced at the Aurus plant in Yelabuga, Tatarstan.
