Gavrilov Calls for Reconstruction of Euro-Atlantic Security System

01 July

The current Euro-Atlantic security system is non-existent and needs to be rebuilt from the ground up, according to Konstantin Gavrilov, head of the Russian delegation at the Vienna talks on military security and arms control.

"Today, the system of Euro-Atlantic security does not exist. It has to be entirely created anew," Gavrilov stated during a roundtable discussion titled "Formation of a Multipolar World Order: Regional and Global Challenges."

He emphasized the need for Russia, along with its partners and other interested countries, to develop new approaches to ensure global and regional security.

"In this context, I note that international discussions on the parameters of interaction between states and a multipolar world, and on the democratization of the entire system of international relations, are already underway," Gavrilov added. He highlighted that such dialogue is occurring on platforms such as the CIS, SCO, and BRICS.

The roundtable was organized by the Russian delegation and held at Vienna's Hofburg. Participants included diplomats, press representatives, and experts.
