Karasin: Russia Highly Values Friendly Relations with Turkmenistan

Russia highly values its traditionally friendly relations with Turkmenistan and pays great attention to developing long-term interaction, stated Grigory Karasin, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, during a meeting with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of the Khalk Maslahaty (People's Council). The meeting took place on the margins of the Russia-Islamic World economic forum in Kazan, as reported by the official newspaper "Neytralny Turkmenistan."

 

Karasin emphasized, "The development of Russian-Turkmen parliamentary relations owes much to Berdimuhamedov's substantial contributions." He also highlighted Berdimuhamedov's role in expanding partnerships with Islamic world countries, noting that this cooperation is becoming increasingly mutually beneficial.

 

Berdimuhamedov expressed that developing a constructive dialogue with Russia and the states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation is among Turkmenistan's foreign policy priorities. He also held a meeting with Konstantin Kosachev, Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Russian Federation, who noted, "The participation of the head of the People's Council in the forum is of great importance for further deepening of the Russian-Turkmen cooperation, which has received a qualitatively new content in recent years."

 

Additionally, Berdimuhamedov met with Mintimer Shaimiev, State Counselor of Tatarstan. They acknowledged the effective nature of bilateral cooperation in various areas, particularly in the oil and gas industry, shipbuilding, chemical industry, and the supply of aviation equipment and trucks. Both parties agreed on the importance of fully utilizing all opportunities for developing trade and economic relations.
