Kremlin Refutes Western Narrative of Russia's History as Colonization

09 February

Magomedsalam Magomedov, the Deputy Head of the Russian Presidential Administration (PA), denounced attempts by the West to portray Russia's history as one of colonial conquest, exploitation, and genocide of other peoples, labeling it as divorced from reality. Speaking at a plenary session of the All-Siberian Forum of National Unity, Magomedov attributed this aggressive information campaign to destabilize Russia's domestic political situation to the United States and its allies.

"They are attempting to depict the history of interaction between our peoples as one of colonial conquest, exploitation, and genocide, advocating for so-called decolonization," Magomedov remarked, emphasizing the discrepancy with reality. He highlighted that throughout history, the emergence of the Russian state has been marked by voluntary unification of peoples, with its expansion bringing development and increased prosperity to the regions it encompassed, including Siberia.

Magomedov underscored Russia's current challenge of facing unprecedented external pressure from the collective West, necessitating the defense of its sovereignty, state integrity, and the rights of the Russian-speaking population, particularly in Ukraine where they face discrimination. He attributed this pressure to the inability of certain global entities to accept the existence of a vast and powerful country like Russia.
