Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held talks with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan at the UN headquarters, where the ministers emphasized the need for coordinated efforts to address pressing issues in the Middle East and Transcaucasia. Before the meeting, the ministers exchanged handshakes and inquired about each other's well-being.
According to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry, the talks included an exchange of views on various international subjects. Both ministers affirmed the necessity of coordinating actions between their countries to find mutually acceptable solutions to acute regional problems. These issues encompassed the situations in the Gaza Strip, Syria, the broader Middle East, and the Black Sea zone, as well as developments in Transcaucasia.
The ministry reported, "The ministers discussed the progress in the implementation of key Russian-Turkish projects in the energy sector as well as the schedule of upcoming bilateral contacts." Additionally, they subjectively considered topical issues related to bilateral trade and economic cooperation. The diplomatic ministry underscored the importance of ongoing collaborative efforts to sustain and further expand mutually beneficial ties.
Earlier at the UN, Lavrov also held meetings with the foreign ministers of Iran, Lebanon, and Indonesia.
