A meeting of the speakers of the parliaments of Russia, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, and China is scheduled to take place in early 2024. The announcement was made during the plenary session of the State Duma by Leonid Slutsky, the head of the Duma Committee on International Affairs and leader of the LDPR party. The focus of the meeting will be on countering international terrorism and fostering cooperation between the regions.
"At the beginning of the year, we will convene our traditional meeting of the speakers of the parliaments of Russia, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, and China to discuss countering international terrorism and fostering cooperation between regions," the parliamentarian announced.
Slutsky also mentioned that "we are on the verge of resuming the international forum for the development of parliamentarism, already one of the most widely covered parliamentary forums globally."
"As we enter the new year, Russia assumes the presidency of the largest integration bloc on the planet - BRICS. We are nearing the establishment of a fully-fledged parliamentary dimension within BRICS. We have several initiatives ready, which the President and I will discuss today," added the head of the State Duma committee.
