Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin will participate in the meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in Ashgabat on May 24. This was reported in the Telegram channel of the first department of the CIS countries at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"On May 24,  Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin will take part in the meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS in Ashgabat. The prime ministers will consider current issues of trade and economic cooperation within the CIS, as well as a number of draft documents in such areas as energy, transport, ecology, intellectual property protection, and cultural-humanitarian cooperation," the message says.

The visit to Ashgabat may thus become Mishustin's first foreign trip since his appointment as head of government.

It is expected that the Concept of Cooperation of CIS Member States in the Field of Energy for the period until 2035 and the Action Plan for Optimizing Infrastructure and Developing International Transport Corridors passing through the territories of CIS member states for the period until 2030 will be approved.

On the day of Vladimir Putin's inauguration on May 7, in accordance with the law, the Russian government resigned its powers to the elected president. On May 10, the State Duma approved Mikhail Mishustin as the Prime Minister of Russia, and then the President of Russia appointed him to this position.
