Today, Russia essentially faces the task of building a new world, stated Russian President Vladimir Putin during a plenary session of the Valdai International Discussion Club.
"We are essentially tasked with building a new world," stated the head of state. He went on to emphasize the significant role and responsibility of intellectuals, addressing the members of the discussion club, saying, "At such pivotal junctures, the role and responsibility of intellectuals like you, dear colleagues, is immense."
"Throughout the years of the club's existence, significant, if not monumental, changes have unfolded, both on the global stage and within our nation," Putin remarked. He further highlighted that, in historical terms, the two decades of the forum's existence may not seem lengthy, "but given the context of a world order in upheaval, time appears to compress."
"I believe you will agree that the past 20 years have witnessed a greater number of events than what typically unfolds over many, many decades," the head of state reiterated. He stressed that the changes that have occurred in the world have been of a qualitative nature, necessitating fundamental shifts in the very principles of international relations.
