Russian and Iranian Security Council Secretaries Discuss Comprehensive Bilateral Treaty

Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev and Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Ali Akbar Ahmadian held discussions in Moscow regarding the development of a new comprehensive bilateral treaty between the two countries. The press service of the Russian Security Council apparatus reported that the conclusion of this significant document is expected to greatly enhance mutually beneficial cooperation across various spheres.

 

The meeting covered a wide range of security-related issues, with a focus on cooperation between security councils, law enforcement agencies, and special services. The discussions emphasized joint efforts in combating terrorism, ensuring information security, and addressing economic security challenges amid Western sanctions pressure.

 

Global and regional trends were also reviewed during the talks, along with upcoming contacts and a schedule of activities for working groups from both countries' security councils on mutual interest issues. The Security Council highlighted the strengthening and elevation of relations between Russia and Iran to a qualitatively new level across various domains.

 

The press release concluded by noting that the focus remains on the practical implementation of agreements reached at the highest level. Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova anticipates the signing of the new interstate agreement during one of the upcoming meetings between the presidents of Russia and Iran, although the specific date is yet to be determined.
