The Russian Foreign Ministry is actively working to facilitate the prompt evacuation of Russians from the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone, with the goal of ensuring their safe return to Russia, as stated by the Foreign Ministry in an official announcement.
However, the statement acknowledges the persistently challenging situation regarding the evacuation of citizens from the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing point.
"The situation around the border crossing remains extremely challenging, with the evacuation of foreign citizens being conducted in stages due to ongoing hostilities and the limited capacity of the checkpoint. The Russian Foreign Ministry is exerting all necessary efforts to ensure that compatriots who have sought assistance will soon exit the conflict zone and safely reach Russia," stated the report.
"Evacuation measures are ongoing, with approximately 100 additional Russian citizens and their family members transported by bus to Cairo through the Rafah checkpoint (to Egypt). They are now preparing for departure to Moscow on a special flight organized by the Russian Emergencies Ministry," added the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The evacuation of Russian citizens from the Gaza Strip, amid the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, is a collaborative effort between the Russian Emergencies Ministry and Russian diplomats. The initial group of 70 Russian citizens successfully crossed the Rafah checkpoint into Egypt on Sunday. Subsequently, on Monday, another 99 Russians passed through the Rafah checkpoint. In total, 169 Russian citizens have departed the Gaza Strip for Egypt over the course of these two days, according to information provided by the Russian Emergencies Ministry's press service to TASS.
