Moscow sees the latest events in Kazakhstan as an attempt inspired from outside to undermine by force the security and integrity of the country. This is said in a statement issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry on Thursday in connection with the decision of the CSTO Collective Security Council to send the organization's collective peacekeeping forces to Kazakhstan.
"The Russian Federation, having reaffirmed its commitment to allied obligations within the CSTO, supported the adoption of urgent measures in connection with the rapid degradation of the internal political situation and the growth of violence in Kazakhstan. We consider the recent events in the friendly country as an attempt to undermine the security and integrity of the state in a violent way, using trained and organized armed groups, inspired from outside," the statement reads.
Russia will continue close consultations with Kazakhstan and its CSTO allies to facilitate a counterterrorist operation in the republic.
"The Russian Federation will continue close consultations with the Kazakh side and other CSTO allies to analyze and develop, if necessary, further effective steps, primarily to assist Kazakhstan's law enforcement agencies in conducting a counterterrorism operation, ensuring the safety of all peaceful citizens of that country without exception, as well as vital critical infrastructure facilities, unblocking them and returning them under the control of Kazakhstan's authorities," the document said.
The Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that Moscow is interested in early restoration of normal life in Kazakhstan.
