Media: Syrian forces eliminate an IS leader in the south of the country

The Syrian security forces have carried out a special operation in the town of Tafas in the Daraa governorate (located in the south of the Arab Republic), during which one of the leaders of the Islamic State terrorist group  (IS, banned in Russia) was killed, SANA news agency reported on Monday, citing a security source.


According to the agency, the killed Mahmoud Ahmad al-Hallaq, also known as Abu Omar al-Jababi, was one of the leaders of the Islamic State in the south of Syria and was responsible for the militant training camps operating in the area.
