Fifty films from 45 countries were included in the competition program of the Kazan International Muslim Film Festival, which will be held in the capital of Tatarstan from 5 to 10 September, the website of the Religious Board of Muslims of Russia reports.
"The film festival held under the motto “To the dialogue of cultures through the culture of dialogue” in 2021 will show movies from 45 countries of the world. The main competition includes 50 movies in five categories: feature-length films, short fiction films, documentaries, short documentaries and national competition," the report says.
The festival will also feature parallel programs: "Islam in Russia", "Turkic World", "Kazan Premieres", "Transit Moscow - Kazan".
The "Islam in Russia" program will feature three documentaries from the "Muslims Who Make Russia Proud" series. These are the movies "Abdulaziz Davletshin. The road to Mecca" by Abdulla Issa, "Musa Bigiev. An Involuntary Migrant" by Ildar Islamgulov and "Galimdzhan Barudi. Memorable Book" by Galina Krasnoborova.
The program "Turkic world" included a Turkish film "Beehive" with Meryem Uzerli in the title role. Earlier the film was shown in a competition at the Moscow Film Festival.
Kazan International Muslim Film Festival was founded in 2005 on the initiative of the Russian Muftis Council. The President of the Kazan International Film Festival is Mufti Ravil Gaynutdin, Chairman of the Russian Muftis Council.
