Kazan launches competition for young hafizs of the Quran

From 17 to 20 May, Kazan hosts the international competition for young hafizs of the Quran. The competition is held within the framework of the series of events dedicated to the proclamation of Kazan as the Youth Capital of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on 2022.

 

The event was initiated by the OIC Youth Forum and the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan. The competition was co-organized by the Academy of Youth Diplomacy, the Salet Youth Public Foundation, the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Association of Muslim Entrepreneurs of the Russian Federation.

 

Young men and women from all over the world applied to take part in the competition. The 50 best contestants were selected, 30 of whom are from foreign countries.

 

World Quranic scholars and hafizs, chaired by Sheikh Ma’mun Shaaban Khalil al-Rawi, head of the Quran Committee of the Ruler of the United Arab Emirates, are participating as expert jury in the competition.

 

The three best Quranic reciters from each group (male and female) will be awarded prizes and diplomas.

 

The winners will be awarded at the XIII International Economic Summit ‘Russia – Islamic World: KazanSummit 2022’. They will receive a $10 000 prize from the President of the Republic of Tatarstan.
