Engineering and technical specialties have emerged as the most popular fields of study among Uzbek citizens applying to higher education institutions in the Russian Federation, according to Deputy Head of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, Konstantin Mogilevsky.
"The most popular areas of training among citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan are engineering and technical specialties," Mogilevsky stated during a press conference.
Data from the Russian Ministry of Education and Science indicates that over 8,600 students from Uzbekistan are pursuing economics, more than 2,000 are studying law, nearly 4,000 are enrolled in management programs, 2,600 are studying medical science, and 1,800 are receiving pedagogical education in Russian universities.
Mogilevsky also highlighted that more than 50,000 Uzbek citizens were studying in Russian higher education institutions in 2024. Additionally, 8,000 students completed their studies in branches of Russian universities located in Uzbekistan during the academic year.
He noted that Uzbekistan hosts the highest number of branches of Russian universities abroad, with 14 branches, mostly from leading Russian universities. In late May, a memorandum was signed to establish a new branch of Bauman Moscow State Technical University in Uzbekistan.
